Sales Manager
CarePages, Inc. is a vibrant healthcare services business, based in Chicago, whose mission is to facilitate communication and support for patients and their families. The CarePages service creates patient web sites that help family and friends stay in touch when someone is receiving care. Only Chicago-based candidates will be considered.
The primary purpose of the Sales Manager position is to generate sales in support of regional Vice Presidents of Sales for the CarePages service to hospitals and healthcare organizations. The Sales Manager develops new business through leads from various sources and cold calls. The sale is complex, involving multiple decision-makers and requires some working knowledge of the healthcare industry. The sales cycle is long, often 4-6 months, and usually involves preparation of product demonstrations, presentations and contract negotiations. The Sales Manager's role is critical to the organization's success, as the Sales Department is charged with the revenue generation required to accomplish the organization's growth goals.
Principal Duties:
- Working with Vice Presidents of Sales, uses cold calls or warm leads to "C" level executives within hospitals and healthcare organizations, i.e., CEO, COO, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Vice President of Marketing, and others to setup sales meetings.
- Follows up on leads and inquiries from marketing, trade shows, company Web site, and other sources.
- Working with the Vice Presidents of Sales, develops a sales strategy for each prospect. Establishes rapport and builds client relationships through understanding the client's business, organization, goals and needs. Maintains relationships with multiple people within organizations.
- Ensures that excellent relationships are maintained and enhanced with appropriate staff at customer organizations in order to identify and implement service and/or operational initiatives to achieve continually high levels of customer satisfaction in quality and utilization.
- Uses every opportunity to gather information, understand client constraints and pressing business issues.
- Maintains Upshot CRM data base to ensure information is accurate and current.
- Assists Vice President in tailoring presentations to each client's unique environment, needs and requirements.
- Writes professional e-mails, letters, Letters of Understanding, proposals and other business correspondence.
- Schedules trips, develops itineraries and prioritizes calls to ensure maximum use of the Vice President's time while controlling travel costs.
- Develops and maintains internal relationships, acting as team member as appropriate. Actively seeks out others throughout the organization to establish friendship, teamwork and partnership. Uses internal resources to enhance knowledge and expertise of industry, research, products and services. Provides information and support to others on Sales team and in company.
- Maintains current knowledge of CarePages enhancements, and healthcare industry issues.
- Works closely with a team of Sales Managers based in Chicago to support a team of regional Vice Presidents of Sales positioned across North America.
- In cooperation with marketing efforts, assists with regional research and marketing activities.
- Works closely with regional account managers to assure a smooth and successful implementation of the CarePages service.
- Establishes and maintains consistent business image for all CarePages, Inc. products, promotional materials and events.
- Builds and maintains the Upshot database as well as prepare weekly tracking reports, including but not limited to meetings with targets, contract out, and contracts in.
- Prospects for clients, using Internet search engines, healthcare industry references such as the AHA Guide, and CarePages, Inc. Upshot CRM software to identify contacts to consistently and constantly generates leads.
Required Skills:
- Bachelors Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business or related healthcare field required, with a minimum of 3 to 5 years related experience within a sales organization are required.
- Advanced Degree and experience in healthcare preferred, but not required.
- A proven ability to master complex ideas and articulate them persuasively to others.
- Demonstrated ability to obtain results.
- Highly organized, self-motivated individual who is able to juggle and prioritize needs of several members of sales staff.
- Advanced interpersonal and negotiation skills necessary in order to provide effective leadership and communication with a wide variety of clients.
- Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver formal presentations, to lead and participate in meetings, are critical.
- Excellent writing skills are required to write business letters, e-mails, proposals and other business correspondence. Use of proper grammar, a command of language and ability to organize and present written materials and documents is critical to the sales process.
- Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook are essential. Previous experience with business application software will be helpful; particularly Upshot. Incumbents are required to produce effective PowerPoint presentations, generate business correspondence and proposals, track time and expenses, maintain internal calendars and handle internal and external e-mail.
- Ability to use Internet search engines to retrieve client and industry data and to perform competitive intelligence is essential.

Web Developer

The primary purpose of the Web Developer is to work within a team of technical experts to develop and maintain our core product.
Principle Duties:
- Participate in full agile development methodology (XP / scrum-like) including user story definition, acceptance test creation, design, development, unit testing, deployment, documentation.
- Develop tools for the monitoring of all online systems for uptime and optimum performance. Actively involved in the ongoing support of production systems.
- Integrate third party solutions and service to support business initiatives.
- Provide support and perform system maintenance/upgrades.
- Assists in operations including release coordination and system deployment.
Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree and/or 3-5 years experience relating to web-based software development using PHP, Python, Ruby or Perl. Other languages a plus (e.g. Java).
- Minimum of 5 years experience developing, testing, deploying and maintaining open source interactive web applications.
- Minimum of 5 years experience with any SQL-based database development (MySQL or Oracle experience especially).
- Real-world experience with Agile engineering practices (test-driven development, object-oriented design, refactoring) and project management practices (Scrum teamwork, User Story development and estimation).
- Thorough understanding of common web and e-commerce concepts and technologies, such as: HTTP, SSL, Javascript and variants, HTML and other client-side data formats (no graphic design skills required).
- Knowledge of OO design patterns, refactoring and unit testing.
- Ability to work collaboratively, in a team environment and independently.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Actual experience on a ROR project a plus.

Software QA Tester (Performance/Load/Stress)

Principle Duties:
- Design, develop and execute performance test plans and tests, as well as manual tests, at all layers of the web application.
- Interpret test results and data to identify performance bottlenecks caused by code, configuration issues, hardware, etc.
- Take ownership of testing various components of the product.
- Assess and enhance the load/performance testing framework.
- Recommend/develop new testing tools.
- Maintain the quality and overall integrity of the test data.
- Thoroughly understand the operations of the company's web application and its underlying infrastructure.
- Communicate with QA manager, IT staff, Development team, Product Representatives, and Database Reporting Analyst to gather requirements for testing.
Other General QA Job Duties:
- Identify defects in the web application in all phases of development.
- Analyze, document, track and communicate results, defects, analysis and unresolved problems.
- Assist the QA team in writing and running automated acceptance tests.
- Attend meetings to discuss iteration progress and iteration plans.
- Communicate effectively with both the Technical and Business sides of the company.
- Research and identify potential resolutions to performance issues.
- Document test results and communicate them to various audiences.
Education/ Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 1-3 years of hands on load/performance/stress testing experience with web applications.
- Solid understanding of web delivered software architecture technologies.
- Solid experience with Linux and Windows OS's, basic SQL, HTML, Javascript.
- Comprehensive understanding of how to set up tests for web delivered applications (i.e. test duration, test ramp-up/down speed, determining the number of users to test with based on total user population).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capability to multi-task across several projects.
- Attention to detail.
